Describe your hairstyle and specifically share the products used? We married in Cuba and, because internet and phone are limited, I had to work with a makeup artist and hair stylist who I had never met. I sent her pictures of various styles that I liked a few weeks before we traveled to the island country. The morning before our commitment ceremony, I used Shea Moisture Curl Defining Smoothie and Shea Moisture coconut oil to make my curls pop. I wanted to cover a few heat-damaged pieces so the stylist sleeked my hair into a pretty up-do and picked out the curls so that they would be fuller in photos.
How did you meet your husband & how did he proposed? My husband and I met online in 2011 and again in 2015. He proposed the day before Thanksgiving in 2015 during a prayer before breakfast.
Word of advice for the NaturalHairBride planning her wedding day: Be flexible. I couldn’t do a test trial and wanted a style that would work well with the heat and humidity in Havana. I hated the first up-do that the stylist did and had challenges communicating that to her because I am not fluent in Spanish. Ultimately, we were patient with each other and came up with a soft, feminine and beautiful style. I was so focused on my husband that I didn’t really care how I looked anyway.
