Engagement Story: Proposal At A Beautiful Park
Proposal story: My fiancé and I were in a long distance relationship for the past year and a half while he finished up graduate school. Charles came to visit our son and me for Fourth of July weekend and informed me prior to his arrival that we would be celebrating our 5-year anniversary; which was the weekend before. Charles took me to dinner and then informed me he had a surprise. I fell asleep in the car (as usual) as he drove me to the surprise. When I woke up we were at our favorite park, which overlooks our city. It was late at night; he took me to the top of the hill, expressed his love for me, and got down on one knee to propose. I was overjoyed to the point that I did a cartwheel making a small tare in my dress

When did you and your fiancé meet? Charles and I met over 6 years ago at a mutual friends birthday party. I served as photographer that night, since my friend didn’t have a camera. I introduced myself to Charles and took a picture of him. Next thing I know I had a friend request on Facebook and a message stating that we needed to be friends in order for him to have a copy of that picture. From there he told that we needed to keep in touch because he needed an educational mentor, being that he was transferring from one school to another. Finally he mustered up enough courage to ask me out, but I turned him down (a couple of times). He wasn’t my type. He continued to pursue and I finely gave in. It didn’t take long from that point for me to see how amazing he was. Now he’s my best friend, father of my child, and soon to be husband. I couldn’t be happier!
How will you wear your hair for the wedding? It will be natural and tapered. I’m not exactly sure of the exact style just yet, but I know that I will be seeking help from a professional. Charles loves my hair natural and short. Anytime I feel like giving up on my hair, he always encourages me to stay on my journey.
How has Natural Hair Bride influenced your styling decision? Traditionally I think of a pressed or processed up-do as a bridal look. My hair is the furthest thing from traditional and Natural Hair Bride provides me with inspiration to continue to embrace my kinks into my wedding day.
