Of course! The day of the proposal was actually documented and we have the video on our YouTube Channel (Worth The Wait). In summary, it was a pretty long day of events that Brandon had secretly been planning with my sister, best friend and one of his best friends for a few weeks. We had been discussing the idea of taking turns with surprising each other with a date night. I was first and had planned a surprise date about two weeks before the proposal and so Brandon was next. Little did I know that this would work right into his proposal plans. He asked me to clear my schedule and told me what time I needed to be ready and what I should wear. I thought it was just going to be a regular date, so the idea of him proposing to me was not in mind. I also didn’t happen to stumble across any documents, texts, the ring or anything unusual prior to this day that would’ve alarmed me that he was proposing. The day started out with a spa visit in Soho (NYC) where I was treated to a Swedish massage. Then we headed to Columbus Circle and had a horse carriage ride around Central Park. After the ride, Brandon had a picnic already set up for us to have lunch with food from one of our favorite restaurants in Brooklyn (I had no idea how he managed to get the food to Manhattan and have it set up while we were on the horse carriage ride, so I started to get suspicious. Still no idea of a proposal though.) Then we headed back down to Washington Square Park to the bench where Brandon first told me “I love you” and that’s when he got on one knee and proposed. My sister, best friend and Brandon’s best friend came out of hiding and that’s when I learned who was helping him and following us the entire day to document each event. As if that wasn’t enough, Brandon also had a group dinner set up at Negril Village Restaurant to celebrate our engagement with my mom and closest friends. It was definitely one of the best days of my life!

When Did You & Your Fiancée Meet?
During my freshman year of college at Cornell University (in 2011). However, we didn’t really know or speak to each other for a few years until we started courting in 2013. It’s amazing how we knew of each other for so long and never expected to be in a relationship with each other and now I can’t imagine the rest of my life without him. We provide a few more details about this story in this video on our YouTube channel.
How Will You Wear Your Hair On Your Wedding Day?
Definitely natural! I love my natural hair and Brandon doesn’t want it any other way haha. I’ve been debating whether I will add a few kinky hair extensions to give me some additional length and volume but of course- it all depends on the dress and where my hair length is next summer. I will be keeping an eye on NaturalHairBride.com for some inspiration!!
How Long Have You Been Natural?Â
October 10th will make it 3 years since my BC!
