Wedding Day Hair: For my bridal photos and wedding day hair, my Mother did a braid out. The shampoo I used was
Shea Moisture
and the conditioner I use is
Suave Professionals Conditioner, Almond + Shea Butter
. To moisturize I used
Organic Coconut Oil
and
Black Castor Oil
. As a sealant I used
Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning
. After all products are applied and hair sectioned, my Mother braided my hair two days before the wedding. On the day of my wedding I took down the braids about 2 hours before the ceremony and styled in a slight frohawk with babies breath. For the reception I wanted to take out the pins and flowers for a fuller look. I knew I wanted to do a natural hairstyle on my wedding day but wasn’t sure how I would look with an updo. When I saw Solange wear her beautiful fro I was sold. I knew that my hair was enough crown for me.

Advice for newly engaged couples:Â Set a time/date when you are not going to do any more planning. I set mine a week before the wedding and stuck with that. Just relax, you will get married no matter what goes wrong or right. On the day of my wedding, I ate fast food for breakfast and watched a marathon of Keeping Up with the Kardashians til it was time for me to leave.
Daryl and I met in the 12th grade. We dated off an on til our mid twenties. Then we parted ways and he married and had a son. That union didn’t work out and we met up again after his divorce. Because of our story our theme was “Fresh Start” We were married at a venue over looking a golf course in Ft Worth, TX. Our wedding date was March 28th, 2015.
Wedding Details: The colors were Kelly Green (or Scarlet O’Hara green), Gray and White. I felt green represented spring and a fresh season, it is also my Grandmother’s favorite color and my Mother’s birthstone.
I had 4 bridesmaids, no maid of honor or matron of honor. There were 3 hostesses and 2 ushers.
My gown was a strapless ballgown from Pronovias. My reception pants were made by my Mother!
Most unforgettable moment of your wedding day: It may be corny but the entire day was unforgettable. I couldn’t narrow down one part. The day was unforgettable.
How did you learn of Naturalhairbride.com? I learned of natural hair bride on Instagram. I used Instagram for a lot of inspiration.
